I had been searching an searching for a moderately priced high quality food. My 2 boxers were on Wellness Core, another excellent food, but its just a bit too pricey. I found this food a couple months ago, its about 12-15 bucks cheaper than Wellness Core and just as good. No grains in either food, no by-products. all natural healthy ingredients. I am feeding my 2 boxers a mix of Before Grain #3(buffalo) and #1(chicken). My dogs love both. They are healthy and happy. Even my soon to be 11yr old girl. This dog food is great. My dog, who's a pciky eater, loves it. The kibbles are smaller than most dog food kibble (not a bad thing). I will definitely buy Merrick again.

I used to feed my dogs a Purina One kibble, but after I started cleaning up my own diet, I wondered about the health impact it was having on them to eat food whose number-one ingredient was corn. I did some online research and found that many dogs may have allergies to corn, wheat, and all the corn and wheat by-products used as fillers and binders in kibble. I began buying Natural Balance Duck & Potato for them, but the dachshund didn't like it, so he kept on eating the Purina One (he's very particular). The Jack Russell, who has been a prodigious shedder for her whole life, all of a sudden began having a much shinier coat and less shedding. I had read that grain-free formulas could reduce shedding but didn't think that pertained to her, since two different vets had told me she was just a shedding breed and nothing could be done about it.
