Nature's Variety Dry Dog Food, Prairie Canine Beef Meal & Barley, 30 Pound Bag

My bulldogs aren't particularly picky but with the health concerns of the breed, I AM! I researched a fair amount of brands and decided that natures variety fit my requirements. The dogs love it and I am confident that it is meeting their nutritional requirements. I will, however, supplement their diets with glucosamine and omega.

I am extremely happy to have found the 30 lb. bag on Amazon. I signed up for the monthly delivery with the 15% off. What a deal! No more lugging it home from the pet store in extreme heat or blizzard snow!

Highly recomended for bulldogs, French or English!

8/2/2011-*** STILL LOVE THE BEEF... not to sound gross but my dogs tried a bag of the natures variety chicken and both had much looser poop.... not bad enough to make me worry but I much prefer the firmer beef stools for yard cleanup!!!

I fed this food to my dogs, two bags that were purchased at a local pet supply store at different times. I had one dog that needed a red meat only diet with lower protein, and this fit the bill. She ate it heartily, as did the other dogs I fed it too occasionally.

Finding it here for less money and free shipping, I tried it and a whole different experience followed. Ordering and shipping was great, but the food smelled very different out of the bag and only one of my dogs will venture to eat it. None of the others will even go near it, let alone touch it, even one dog who previously would eat literally anything.

Clay is used as a binder in the food, and the food has a heavy clay smell. Possibly this batch was bad, maybe they have changed their formula, I don't know. We normally buy this same brand at a dog boutique in town and I found it cheaper here on amazon. When we received it the food smelled bad and the dogs wouldn't eat it. The bag must have been a bad batch or an old bag. Went back to the boutique and bought a new bag and now they are eating it like no tomorrow. This is the only brand of food our jack russell will eat. I highly recommend the brand... just don't order it online.
