My Shih Tzu has terrible tear stains, my vet reccomended high quality food. Ever since using Royal Canin Shih Tzu formula the tear stains have all but cleared up. I like how this dog food is specifically tailored to the needs of shih tzus which are much different from other dogs, even other toy breeds.
While this dog food is expensive, it lasts forever. I bought the large bag and am getting ready to buy my second bag, three months later. That's about $10 a month or $2.50 a week for one shih, not bad considering that it is top quality.
My Shih also really likes this food (although I mix a little wet food in, she will eat it dry). I would strongly recommend this for any shih tzu owner.

I have 2 shih tzus. One is four yra old and the other is eight yrs old. I have tried so many foods. They both have sensitive stomachs and the younger dog had frequent ear infections and was biting her toes. The vet said that it was due to fungal infection and possibly food allergies. She was on medication for several months. But when I switched her food to Royal Canin the itchiness stopped and her ear infections cleared up. the older dog stopped vomiting and started playing like a puppy again. Royal Canin has also stopped the excessive dog stool on the back lawn as well. Even though it is expensive if my dogs are healthier it is worth every penny.

We have 2 small Shih Tzus. We have had several and they have always had a problem with vomiting. Not so when we started using this food. We won't ever buy anything else again.
