One of our cats was constantly getting urinary tract infections. Anyone who has had a cat with a UTI knows that the cat will try to find a place to urinate that doesn't hurt (since they associate the litter box with pain). We went through several rounds of expensive vet visits, urinalysis and antibiotics...not to mention the urinating on area rugs, couch cushions, our bed, laundry, etc.
Finally the vet did x-rays and determined that she had bladder stones. Our options were to put her through surgery, which doesn't mean stones won't come back, or try a prescription diet. After a few weeks on the Urinary SO diet, her x-rays were clear and she has not had another stone or UTI since (about 4 years now). I only gave the product 4 stars instead of 5 due to the cost. My 4 year old cat was diagnosed with FLUTD (feline lower urinary tract disease) several months ago and placed on this diet exclusively. Within a very short time all his symptoms disappeared and he is now healthy and happy. I like the convenience of home delivery and not having to go to the vet's office to purchase it. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful: By DaveNelson (Atlanta, GA United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Royal Canin Feline Urinary SO 33 Dry Cat Food 16.5 Pound Bag (Misc.) Our cat has apparently lived with bladder stones for a lot longer than we knew. She used to be overweight and sedentary but a bladder infection caused her to loose an extreme amount of weight very quickly. The vet found three bladder stones and operated on her to remove them. A couple of months later with the help of the surgery and Royal Canin Feline SO 33 and she is a healthy active cat of an ideal weight. She is so much more playful that she is like a different cat. The Royal Canin food has helped her gain an appropriate amount of weight and to drink a lot more water. It is a great product that is working very well for us. |
