Summary: Best readily available complete diet for ferrets 2007-09-30
Comment: ...Ferrets love it, there is much less odor from stools when fed an all Vitality diet, and by label comparisons Vitality contains by far the least amount of ingredients known to be harmful to ferret health (such as unnecessary "filler" grains and carbs). Ferrets are obligate carnivores but not even meat itself has all the nutrients needed. Vitality meets these needs better than any other brand I've found. For years we have fed Vitality and our ferrets (we have fifteen : ) never eat anything else. They are thriving. Our fuzzbabes were adopted as rescues and even the ones who were brought back from the brink are healthy and energetic.

Summary: Expensive, but vet bills are more costly 2007-07-25
Comment: Are you still feeding your pets Science Diet or some other premium food that costs a bundle? Well, Wysong products are made with a different ethic: to provide a diet as close as possible to the diet your domesticated carnivore would eat if allowed, and to avoid using the slaughterhouse products, antibiotics, hormones and other disease-causing
ingredients that the large pet food cos. use. More and more, researchers
are suspecting diet of causing illness in even very young animals. Cancer in young animals is becoming more common; it used to be a disease of the older critter. The Wysong website describes the product, the thinking behind the creation of the product, and information on what is in mass-produced foods. I started out giving my cats Anergen, which they were not thrilled with(no taste???), but they went wild(no pun intended) over the Vitality dry food. I'm not wealthy enough right now to feed them a diet of Wysong exclusively, but I mix it with other dry food, and am investigating other brands of cat food that are made with free-range livestock and no "by-products". By the way, I don't believe in the use of "livestock" for feeding companion animals. My ultimate goal is to feed a lacto-ovo-veg. diet to my animals. (No, I have never come across a veterinarian who says this is healthy for cats, but there ARE books available written by people who have essentially vegetarian cats.) In the meantime, I will try to gradually switch my little friends over to foods like Wysong's; I just spent thousands(MANY thousands)of dollars on a cat who had cancer and benefited from integrative treatment(acupuncture, ozone, supplements and two conventional meds). She lived long past her prognosis, but perhaps she would still be with me if I had fed her a proper diet for the last 18 months. Folks with one or two cats: there's almost no reason not to try Wysong(I have/had five piggy cats, so a bag does go fast). Stop supporting big corps. and slaughterhouses. Put your dollars where they'll help your critters and the farm animals that you and your pet eat.
